Shinobi Zukin Beyond striking, the shroud can also be used to apply a variety of powerful choking techniques The following techniques are examples of how the shroud can be used in combat. CONSTRICTION ATTACK #1 - USHIRO JUJI JIME (REAR CROSS CHOKE) The shroud begins in a triangle fold design. It is held in a dual thumb
grip. The Ninja steps up and executes a rear knee strike that causes the opponent's
leg to buckle. The Ninja quickly snaps the shroud over the opponents head from the
rear. The Ninja then turns their body, which allows the shroud to cross itself to
intensify the choke. The Ninja them leans forward to unbalance the opponent and
solidify the technique (ushiro juji jime). From this position it is easy to render
the opponent unconscious by applying consistent pressure. CONSTRICTION ATTACK #2 - ZENPO JUJI JIME (FRONT CROSS CHOKE) The shroud begins in the thousand fold design. As the opponent enters with a punch, the Ninja steps inside and blocks the attack with her left hand while striking the opponents solar plexus with a right punch (suigetsu uchi). The Ninja then snaps the shroud over the opponents head and turns to apply a front cross choke (zenpo juji jime). A hip throw (koshi nage) is a perfect follow up to this technique. CONSTRICTION ATTACK #3 - HITOTE JIME (ONE HANDED CHOKE) The shroud begins in a thousand fold design with tip knots on each end. It is held in a dual little finger grip. The opponent enters with a punch and the Ninja steps left and applies an outside forearm block. Then the Ninja quickly snaps the shroud over the opponents head from the rear. The Ninja then pulls the right side of the shroud back and places it in her left hand, effectively securing both ends of the cloth in a single hand. Before releasing her right hand grip, the Ninja pulls the right end straight back to tighten the choke. Then the left hand secures that position. The Ninja's right hand is then free to strike or unleash a secondary weapon. CONSTRICTION ATTACK #4 - MUSUBI JIME (KNOT CHOKE) The opponent seizes the Ninja with a single hand chest grab. The Ninja traps the gripping hand with her left hand as she extends her right hand forward, thrusting the knot into the opponents right eye socket. The Ninja quickly redirects the opponents gripping hand with a fast upward circular right hand. Now behind the opponent, the Ninja places the knot on the opponents throat and uses her left hand to secure the free end of the shroud. The Ninja then constricts throat. |
